Effective October 20, 2026 · Policy owner: Managing Member
Accessibility has been AXLETE standard practice since January 2026. On October 20, 2026, we formalized that practice in our written Accessibility and Information Security Policy.
Our standard
Our policy requires all AXLETE information and communications technology and deliverables—including documents, presentations, websites, video and meetings—to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA and Section 508. For Minnesota public clients, it also requires conformance to the State of Minnesota Accessibility Standard.
These are our delivery requirements. This policy statement does not replace deliverable-specific testing or conformance documentation.
How we test
- Automated checks: axe-core for web pages and the Microsoft Accessibility Checker for Word and PowerPoint source documents. Exported PDFs also require PDF-specific accessibility checks.
- Manual review: keyboard-only navigation and screen reader checks where applicable, plus color contrast, headings, alternative text and reading order.
- Before release: our policy requires every deliverable to be tested and the results recorded. Automated checks support, rather than replace, manual review.
If something isn’t accessible
We log identified defects, correct them and redeliver within five business days. Until corrected, we provide an accessible alternative format on request.
Tell us which page or deliverable is affected, what you were trying to do, and the format or assistance you need. If helpful, include your browser or assistive technology. You do not need to disclose a disability or medical information.
Our policy
Accessibility and Information Security Policy · Sections A and B
A. Accessibility
- All AXLETE information and communications technology (ICT) and deliverables, including documents, presentations, websites, video and meetings, will conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA, Section 508 and, for Minnesota public clients, the State of Minnesota Accessibility Standard.
- Accessibility requirements are included at the start of each engagement: in requirements, design, build, review and delivery. They are not checked only at the end.
- Every deliverable is tested before release using automated tools (for example, the Microsoft Accessibility Checker and axe-core) and manual review (keyboard and screen reader where applicable). Results are recorded.
- Identified defects are logged, corrected and redelivered within five business days. Until corrected, an accessible alternative format is provided on request.
- Personnel and subcontractors must demonstrate working knowledge of these practices before working on client deliverables, and keep current through ongoing training.
- Third-party tools proposed for client use require accessibility documentation (such as a VPAT) before adoption.
- The Managing Member is accountable for this policy, reviews it annually, and tracks accessibility results across engagements.
B. Information security
- Client and sensitive information is accessed only by those with a need to know, stored only in client-provided or approved encrypted systems, and never on personal or unencrypted media.
- All accounts use strong, unique passwords and multi-factor authentication. Devices use full-disk encryption, current operating system and security updates, a firewall and anti-malware protection.
- AXLETE complies with applicable law and standards including the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act and, where applicable, HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, and follows client security policies.
- Personnel and subcontractors complete security awareness training before client work and annually.
- Suspected security incidents are reported to the client immediately, and in any case within the time required by contract. AXLETE cooperates fully with client investigations, assessments and audits.
- On contract completion, client data is returned or securely destroyed as directed by the client.
